Elmo!

Ivy's new love: Elmo! She carries him everywhere! She calls for him "Elmo" in her tiny voice. I guess I would say "Elmo" is her FIRST word! She hasn't seen him on tv yet - she just knows she loves her stuffed Elmo! So cute.

Home again Home again

Ok what a week.
Ivy spent the night at UIHC last night for observation, mostly.  She did well.  She threw up once around midnight.  They bathed her and she went back to sleep.

Now, she's home.  She is in much better spirits than the last couple of days.  She's smiling and talking and playing.

However, she is farting like a trucker = BIG, LOUD farts!  Accompanied by some diarrhea.  ew.  She just needs to keep drinking the fluids.

Really?

It's January 10, 2012.  My car read 55 degrees today!
Oli was sick on Friday and he just threw up again.
Ivy has been sick for three days:  ER visit on Sunday.  IV fluids yesterday at the Peds office.
My Dad barfed all night long.
I'm just waiting for it.
Really??

Long day

It was a long night.  It's been a long day.
Ivy was up most of the night vomiting and retching.  The poor girl didn't have anything in her to vomit but her body kept retching multiple times per hour.  I finally called the nurse line at UIHC and the nurse thought it would be a good idea to bring her into the ER.  So I did.

The ER is not my favorite place.  Ivy's last trip to the ER was horrible and by ambulance.  (October 2010)

So.  She was giving a tiny bit of Zofran, an anti-nausea medicine.  After a half-an-hour, she was given an apple juice + pedialyte mixture...about 3 ounces and she gulped it down!  Then, a fifteen minute wait and more of the drink.  Then we came home and she did pretty good all day.  I kept pushing clear drinks on her but she wasn't into it.  The only thing she wanted was PediaSure.  I think she was starving.

We were at my parent's house for the afternoon.  I'm so thankful they are so very helpful.  So willing to help me.  It was nice to just be around them and veg out a bit.  My mom gave both kids baths.  So thankful for that.

Then, we drove home.  We took a long drive home because Oliver didn't take a nap so I knew he'd fall asleep on the drive home.  He did.  He's now sleeping in his bed.  He looks so cozy.

I brought Ivy in the house and she threw up.  ugh.  I am so hoping for a quiet night.  I hope the retching doesn't start back up.  I am going to start giving her small bit of clear liquid.  She is in bed now but not sleeping...she's talking.  How can the girl be awake?!  She had such a hard night and didn't sleep much at all today AND she's sick??

Here's hoping for some SLEEP for all of us.

False Alarm

I went to the UI Rec Building today.  My first "workout" = 35 minutes on the treadmill.  I'm not starting to work out as a New Years Resolution or anything....the new year and working out just happen to be happening at the same time.

After the treadmill, Oliver joined me and we went to the Leisure Pool.  Oliver loves the Hot Tub!  Me too.  But after the hot tub, it almost HURTS going into the regular pool!  Brrrrr!

After all of that, Oliver and I were ready to head home.  I saw a friend and we were having a quick chat - I hadn't seen her for awhile.  We were outside the restroom...Oli needed to go peeps.  All of a sudden:  Fire Alarm!

Uh-oh.  My boy pulled the fire alarm!  Siren, strobe lights, and voice coming from the alarm = LOUD!  All of that was pretty scary for Oliver.  I don't think he'll do that again.

We fessed up to the alarm-pulling...the UI Police took MY name.  The Rec Building filled out an incident form with MY name.  hmmm.  Everyone took MY name and I didn't even pull the alarm!

Oli and I talked about the fire alarm and when it's pulled and WHO pulls it.  I said, "It's okay.  You're still learning."  He agreed.

In the car, he was quiet.  Then he said, "I'm sorry.  I thought it was something we play with."  Again, I told him, "It's okay.  You're still learning."

I really was not embarrassed.  Oliver is 3 yrs old.  He is curious.  AND, the alarm itself is positioned pretty darn LOW on the wall....

New Year's Eve

Pizza Roll for dinner
Had a mellow NYE at home with my kiddos.  In my Jammies.  Not too shabby.  Oliver and I made a Pizza Roll for dinner.  He helped with the cheese and the pepperoni.  AND he ate it.  I think because he helped make it - he wanted to eat it.  We also watched Stuart Little.  Ivy played in the living room...ate pizza sauce and went to bed early - that girl was tired!
